material with its own equipment. Any plant for processing that is brought to the site will have all
necessary air emissions permits for portable plants.
A pre-existing road is used to gain access to the site as shown on Map C-1. The road was improved
with road base from the permit azea and the landowner wishes to keep the road in its existing
condition after the end of mining. The northernmost part of this access road is in the permit area.
The remainder of the road to Highway 50, which is located approximately 2500 feet to the south, is
not part of the permit azea and is also used by the landowner to access the ranch located on the
property. There will be no concrete plant on site but a portable asphalt plant may be brought in
occasionally to satisfy local jobs.
Prior to 2002 mining took place in the azea designated as mined out on Map C-2. From 2002 to
2005, mining took place in Strip 1, which is primarily mined out. For future mining, Strip 2 will be
mined first to fully level the mining area, which will remove the knob that exists, as shown on Map
C-2. Prior to any mining in Strip 2, the Sediment Trap and Collection Ditch #1 will be created in
• the southwest comer of the Strip 2 disturbed area. As shown later in this section, the Trap will be
designed to handle the runoff from the 100 yeaz event.
The mining timetable shows that Strip 2 will be mined first, which is 2.6 acres in size. The gravel
deposit in this area should average 22' thick but since the outcrop is on a slope, the average for
calculating the reserve is 18'. Therefore, the reserve in this area is approximately 113,000 tons. At
an average annual rate of 55,000 tons, this azea will last approximately 2.0 yeazs. Strip 3 is 4.47
acres and the average thickness of the azea is approximately 26', therefore the reserve is 281,000
tons. Therefore, this reserve will last 5.1 years. There is some gravel yet to be mined Strip 1 but it is
minimal and will not be counted. Strip 4 is 3.50 acres and the average thickness of the area is
approximately 20', therefore the reserve is 169,000 tons. Therefore, this reserve will last 3.1 years.
Therefore, the total reserve is 563,000 tons and the predicted life of pit is 10.2 years. These
predictions aze approximate since the gravel thicknesses aze somewhat variable and sales aze
dependent upon local contracts, which maybe different in each yeaz.
• BellgazdtPitl/06
