• ~ks and Gesso, LLC
EXHIBIT E: Reclamation Plan
The proposed post-mining land use for the 124'h Estates Sand and Gravel Mine
will be as a developed water resource -approximately 1,000 acre feet of water
storage capacity to be conveyed to the City of Brighton. The proposed reservoir
is located adjacent to the Fulton Ditch and to US Hwy 85. Most surrounding land
is within an agricultural zone district of unincorporated Adams County; although
the area of the mine and the proposed water storage facility is being annexed by
the City of Brighton and will be placed within an industrial zone district. Mining
activity will clear residual sand and gravel deposits from the historic mine and
expose underlying bedrock. Reclamation of the site will utilize on-site materials
for backfill to create stable slopes and a clay lining of the reservoir, isolating it
from surrounding ground water.
Materials Handling
As mining is nearing completion in Area 1, the Operator will begin to backfill with
clay substrate and settled fines, along the wall of the mine to create appropriate
slopes and a clay liner for the water storage reservoir.
Final Grades
200,000 to 250,000 yards of material will be used to backfill and create
appropriate slopes for the lining of the reservoir. This backfill and liner will be
constructed using fine, settled solids from dewatering and washing operations
and claystone bedrock, ripped from the floor of the pit. Estimating 10 percent
waste from washing operations, up to 50,000 yards of settled fines will be
available for backfill, necessitating the removal of 3 to 4 feet of bedrock material
from the floor of the pit to complete reclamation.
The tops of reclaimed slopes will be no less than 20 feet from north, east, and
south property lines, creating a 20 foot bench along these property boundaries,
124 Estates -Regular 112 Application 01029.WD
124° Estates Partners ip August 2001
