5. The drill 1
coal in the
oos
•
RESPONSE:
in Exhibit 7 indicate coal
and A' seams. Rider seams
Shoultl be atltlresse
re t ev avai a
resent other than the
and other major seams
evel s were shown wi t
The permit area contains several thin, discontinuous coal seams, most of
which are not considered mineable. These small coal seams are too thin
and discontinuous to be considered mineable both from an economic and
feasible standpoint. The location of these minor seams are shown on the
Geologic Cross Sections A-A' and B-B" (Map 8) where possible to be
identified. Thin or discontinuous seams are typical in the Menefee
Formation given the lenticular nature of the stratigraphy of this
formation.
No water levels are available for the drill hole logs. Because drilling
• was conducted in the late 1970's, no thought or emphasis was placed on
determining water levels. In addition, these wells have been sealed and
are not available for any water measurements at this time.
6. Page 2.04-15 states that there are no potential problems with the
overburden and interburden ana yses. Based on the data presented,
this statement is not correct and the data should be re-evaluated
with regard to ootential acid-forming and toxic-forming substances.
RESPONSE:
During the meeting held in Denver on March 11, 1985, Peerless P.esources,
inc. and the Division reached the conclusion that there are nc
acid-forming or toxic-forming substances found in the overburden or
interburden analyses.
L I
i1AR n ~. 1996
/~~ Z . ~ y _ /SA
