Drill Hole Logs

Exhibit I, Drill Hole Logs, contains the lithologic logs which shown and
describe the lithologic characteristics and thickness of each strata in
each coal seam. The locations of the drill holes presented in Exhibit
7, Drill Hole Logs, are shown on the Geology/Hydrology Map (Map 7).
Also 5~. P' oy-l5/:
Overburden and Interburden Analyses
Three samples were taken from the floor and the roof of the "A" Coal
Seam in the vicinity of the portal area for the planned Coal Gulch Mine.
These three samples were analyzed at Bookcliffs Commercial Laboratories.
The bottom sample was basically classified as a shale with some small
amount of interbedded coal or carbonaceous shale. The two top samples
analyzed were taken because Sample No. 1 is classified as a shale with
some amount of carbonaceous shale; this sample extends only
approximately 12 to 18 inches above the top of the "A" Coal Seam. The
second top sample taken is a sandstone which on tap of the Sample No. 1
• (the shale/carbonaceous shale). The results of the detailed analyses
performed on these samples are set forth in Table 2, Overburden and
Interburden Analyses.
Although it is anticipated that no groundwater will be discharged from
the mine entries, these overburden and Interburden samples were analyzed
in order to determine if any potential problems would result. As can be
seen from the results in Table 2, Overburden and Interburden Analyses,
no problems are anticipated with regard to the roof or floor material.

•
2.04-15 O
