intent of WECC to determine the amount of non-toxic cover
required for successful revegetation based upon studies done
at other western mining operations having similar conditions
and if necessary by trial revegetation plots utilizing
various non-toxic cover thicknesses to a maximum of four (4)
feet. Therefore, the initial stripping will be to a depth of
four and one-half (4.5) feet. This will assure that four (4)
feet of non-toxic cover will be available for final pile
reclamation should the studies or the test plots indicate
this depth is necessary.
The initial quantity of approximately 70,000cubic yards of
• topsoil and subsoil will be stockpiled in an area just east
of the refuse disposal facility as shown on Drawing No. 001,
Sheet 1 of 2 (1). All future stripped material will be used
in contemporanious reclamation of the completed refuse pile
outslopes. In order to reclaim the outslope up to and in-
cluding the first bench, approximately 34,000 cubic yards of
cover will be needed for four (4) feet of depth. This will
necessitate the stripping of a maximum of 4.5 acres for con-
temporaneous reclamation in the second stripping operation.
The stripping will continue as required for pile reclamation
material and as the disposal area expands.
•
6
