4.03 ROADS
4.03.1 Haul Roads
Because the Coal Gulch Mine will be an underground operation, no major
haul road construction will be necessary. Coal will be shipped by truck
from a truck loadout area shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 12).
Highway type trucks will be used to haul the coal. From a practical
standpoint, given the size of the operation, any highway trucks used to
haul coal will utilize the same road used by mine employees and other
personnel to gain access to the operation.
The haul road (and main access road to the operation) will be utilized
and maintained to control or minimize erosion, siltation, air and water
pollution, and damage to private or public property. The haul road (and
main access road) for the Coal Gulch Mine is shown on the Mine
Facilities Map (Map 12). This road runs from State Highway 160 into a
loadout area shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 12).
A road from State Highway 160 to the planned facility location is
already in existence due to previous mining activities. This road will
be upgraded and improved to provide access for mine employees and other
traffic. This road is located on stable terrain and will be maintained
according to the requirements of 4.03.1(4).
The profile for this main road is shown on the Road Cesign (Map 13).
The grade and pitch requirements specified in Section 4.03.1(3), Design
and Construction, will be met for this main road.
Peerless Resources will maintain this main road along with other roads
throughout the life of the mine with repairs including blading, filling
of potholes, and replacement of road surface material as necessary.
Likewise, watering for dust control will be implemented as necessary.
•
4.03-1
