C~
Febmary (993 H~G Coal 7994 Annual Reclamation Report ~ J
3.0 SPRING AND SEEP MONITORING
•
3.1 REQUIREMENT
Between April 1 and May 15 a spring and seep monitoring plan is to be implemented on the
reclaimed azeas.
For springs having a flow greater than 75 gallons per minute (gpm), a "full suite" list of 25
parameters are to be analyzed. These springs will also be sampled monthly for the field
parameters pH, conductivity, temperature and estimate of flow.
If no flow exceeds 75 gpm, an annual full suite analysis for the single lazgest spring will be
completed.
Mitigation involves the subsequent evaluation of each spring or seep and [he subsequent
determination of the need for remedial attion.
3.2 RESPONSE
On May 5, 1994, a spring and seep survey was completed at the Hayden Gulch minesite. A
brief discussion of each si[e follows.
RSP-1 - Slight decrease in flow from the previous year. Essentially no change in
conduttivity and pH from previous years. No mitigation required.
RSP-2 - Slight decrease inflow from previous years. Conductivity and pH within
ranges observed for previous years. No mitigation required.
RSP-3 - Flow decreased significantly from previous year. conduttivity and pH
remain within previously observed ranges. No mitigation required.
RSPB - Flow decreased sligh[ly from previous yeaz. conduttivity and pH were
within previously observed ranges. No mitigation required.
RSP-S - $eep was dry.
RSP~i - Seep was dry.
Summazies of [he field and lab analysis can be found in Exhibit 5. Refer to [he 1987 Annual
Reclamation Report for a more complete discussion of each si[e.
