Section 816.49 (e) Continued. <br /> <br /> embankment is completed, provid ed that the active, upstream face of the <br /> embankment where water will be impounded ma y be riprapped or otherwise <br /> stabilized. Areas in which the vegetation is not successful or where <br /> rills and gullies develop shall be repaired and revegetated to comply <br /> with the requirements of 30 CFR 816.106 and 30 CFR 816.111-816.117. <br />All embankments of all impoundments and associated structures will <br />be revegetated in accordance with the provisions of this paragraph <br />and of 30 CFR 816.111-816.117, 816.106 and as described and refer- <br />enced in discussions under those Sections and as described and <br />referenced in the discussion under 30 CFR 816.46 (s). <br />(f) All dams and embankments meeting the size or other criteria of 30 <br />CFR 77.216(a) shall be routinely inspected by a qualified registered <br />professional engineer, or by someone under the supervision of a cuali- <br />fied registered professional engineer, in accordance with 30 CFR <br />• 77.216-3. <br />Routine inspections of such structures will be conducted as des- <br />cribed in Section 816.46. <br />(g) All dams and embankments shall be routinely maintained during the <br />mining operations. Vegetative growth shall be cut where necessary to <br />facilitate inspection and repairs. Litches and spillways shall be <br />cleaned. Any combustible material present on the surface, other than <br />material such as mulch or dry vegetation used for surface stability, <br />shall be removed and all other appropriate maintenance procedures <br />followed. <br />All impoundments will be maintained according to specifications <br />set forth in Exhibit 14, Sedimentation Ponds-Geotechnical Investiga- <br />tions. Paintenance procedures will include mowing and cutting of <br />excess vegetative growth for the purpose of facilitating inspections <br />• and repairs, and will include keeping ditches, culverts, spillways, <br />and other outlet structures free of debris.
