Section 816.49 (b) Continued. <br />• (b) Temporary impoundments o: water in which the water is impounded by <br />a dam shall meet the requirements of 30 CFR 616.46(e)-(u). <br />Eighteen temporary impoundments are planned, as shown on the <br />Energy Piines No. 1 and 2 Hydrology (Flap 13) and the Eckman Park <br />Hydrology (Map 14). These impoundments are discussed in detail <br />under Sections 780.21, 780.25, and 816.46 and, as demonstrated by <br />the references cited in this paragraph, will meet the requirements <br />of 30 CFR 816.46 (e)-(u). <br />(c) Excavations that will impound water during or after the mining <br />operation shall have perimeter slopes that are stable and shall not be <br />steeper than 2v:lh. F7here surface runoff enters the impoundment area, <br />the side slope shall be protected against erosion. <br />As described and referenced under Section 816.46 all impoundments <br />will have stable perimeter side slopes that are no steeper than <br />• 2v:lh. All side slopes of all impoundments will be protected <br />against erosion by scarification and other soil stabilization tech- <br />niques including revegetation. <br />(d) Slope protection shall be provided to minimize surface erosion at <br />the site and sediment control measures shall be required where necessary <br />to reduce the sediment leaving the site. <br />As described and referenced under Sections 780.25, 816.45 and <br />816.46, slope protection will be provided to minimize surface <br />erosion at the site of all impoundments and sediment control measures <br />will be provided where necessary to reduce the amount of sediment <br />leaving the site. <br />(e) All embankments of temporary and permanent impoundments, and the <br />surrounding areas and diversion ditches disturbed or created by con- <br />• struction, shall be graded, fertilized, seeded, and mulched to comply <br />with the requirements of 30 CFP. 816.111-816.117 immediately after the <br />816-52 <br />
