• COAL PROCESSING WASTE AND NON-COAL PROCESSING WASTE - RULE 2.05.3(8)
Initial plans by the Bear Coal Company designated the use of a rotary
breaker facility for the mining operation; however, because there is no
rock found within the coal, a Gundlach rotary type crusher will be
substituted in place of a rotary breaker facility. Therefore, no
processing waste will be generated in the crushing procedures. Maps 9
and 10 will be revised to indicate the crushing facility and submitted
under separate cover.
Based on the enormous amount of past mining in the C coal seam near
Somerset, Colorado, the Bear Coal Company has extensive experience in
roof and floor conditions. Because of this past mining and the thorough
knowledge of the geologic conditions of the area, the Bear Coal Company
knows that•the roof and floor rock conditions and characteristics are
quite homogeneous. Therefore, it is believed that the samples analyzed
provide an accurate representation of conditions to be encountered and
• is in sufficient detail to present conditions which are likely to occur
throughout mining activities.
Likewise, the C coal seam is a very clean coal seam with no partings or
interburden within the seam. Based on the homogenity of the rock
conditions in the Somerset area, the lack of any water in the Old Clark
workings, and the fact that no coal processing waste will be generated,
the Bear Coal Company respectfully requests that no additional roof or
floor samples be required.
In addition, because no waste material will be generated during the
operation that must be disposed of in accordance with the requirements
of Rules 4.10 and 4.11, the Bear Coal Company does not believe that any
additional roof or floor sampling would be necessary.
•
-40-
