three groundwater monitoring wells should provide sufficient detail for
analysis of alluvial groundwater in the area.
The three groundwater wells been analyzed for the following information:
1) Depth below surface of groundwater.
2) General characteristics of the alluvial material.
3) Groundwater chemistry for the parameters listed in attached
Appendix A.
4) A pump test from one of the monitoring wells will be
completed.
This information is attached for review by the Division.
The Bear Coal Company is presently negotiating with several other coal
companies along the North Fork of the Gunnison to obtain water• rights.
The source of water will be obtained shortly, and the details of the
agreement will be submitted to the Division.
• The Bear Coal Company is currently assessing information on the maximum
and average flows of the ephemeral drainage in Lone Pine Gulch in order
to establish a baseline condition upon which any changes in the flow
pattern due to underground mining can be assessed. Mining will not be
initiated in an area that might affect the Lone Pine Gulch in the near
future. Bear Coal Company will submit flow data as soon as possible.
•
-33-
