However, in the unlikely event that
a fire occurs and removal of burned waste, other materials or refuse is
deemed necessary, EFCI will prepare and submit a removal plan for approval
by the CMLRD. The plan will detail the method for material removal and
contain appropriate maps and drawings to illustrate the proposed sequence
of operations and methods to be utilized to effect compliance with the
requirements of this section. As required, this plan will be certified
by a qualified engineer.
4.11.3 RETURN TO UNDERGROUND WORKINGS
EFCI does not currently, and has no plans to dispose of coal processing
waste underground. Therefore, the requirements of this section are not
applicable.
• 4.11.4 DISPOSAL OF NON-COAL WASTE
As discussed under Section 2.05.3, Operation Plan - Permit Area, under the
subheading "Disposal of Coal and Non-Coal Waste", all non-coal waste
materials generated at the Southfield mine and loadout are collected and
disposed of in trash containers or in a designated scrap yard in the mine
facilities area. Non-coal wastes resulting from mining and related
operations include used equipment parts, tires, cable, garbage, paper,
waste oil, and lubricants, and other miscellaneous debris. Trash
containers are periodically emptied and both trash and scrap materials are
collected and hauled off the site by salvage contractors or contract
disposal services. In the case of tires, cable and large machine parts,
a designated scrap yard located within the upper employee parking area is
utilized to collect these materials. Dependent upon the market for scrap
materials, they may either be hauled to a collection point or salvage yard
or they are disposed of in an approved municipal landfill along with the
trash.
•
4.11-2
