• Any waste oil or lubricants generated in conjunction with mining
operations are collected and stored in closed containers. A limited
number of full or partially full containers may be stored in the
shop/warehouse area at any given time. Full containers are periodically
collected and removed by a contractor for off-site disposal and/or
recycling.
The only other waste materials produced in conjunction with the mining
related operations are sediments and any precipitates which collect in
Water Treatment and Recycle Pond No. 2 and the sedimentation ponds.
Residue from these facilities consist primarily of fine sediment particles
with limited amounts of iron, mineral precipitates and settleable solids.
These materials accumulate very slowly and are periodically removed and
disposed of in interior portions of the coal refuse stockpile. puantities
of these materials are limited and are distributed as small isolated cells
well away from the toe and/or surface areas within the refuse disposal
• pile. This method of placement and distribution insures that these
materials will not adversely affect refuse pile stability.
4.11.5 DAMS AND EMBANKMENTS
This section outlines performance standards related to construction of
dams and embankments with coal processing waste or intended to impound
coal processing waste. EFCI does not currently, and has no plans to,
construct dams and embankments out of coal processing waste materials or
use dams and embankments to impound coal processing waste. Therefore,
the specific requirements of this section are not applicable.
•
4.11-3
