Southwest willow flycatcher
Peregrine falcon
Baid eagle
No population estimates were given by the Service. No southwest willow flycatcher have been
observed on the site. Two bald eagles have been seen on the island(a prenuptial nest).
19. Seeding will be done as soon as possible after final grading of slopes to establish vegetation.
Weeds will be controlled by spraying as requved to control them.
21. The estimated cover and heights of vegetation on the site aze as follows(See Vegetation Ass. in
Exhibit I for location):
1. Agrictrltural(pasture)-70%cover, grazed down to less than one inch.
5. Saltgrass-30% to 40% cover, less than two inches.
8. Saltgrass-Intermediate wheatgrass- 30% cover, less than one inch
12. Saltgrass-Creeping Spike Rusk-50% cover, grazed down to less than one inch.
22. At this time, no utilities are to be installed on the site.
24. Structures within the mining area and not shown on the Mining Plan Map include irrigation
ditches(used for irrigation on this property only), fences and dirt roads. These structures will
be removed as the mining progresses. GJ Pipe will install temporary fences to keep livestock
out of the mining and reclaimed azeas. The power line for the irrigation pump located in Phase
VI will be removed and relocated. The new location of the pump is unknown at this time.
25. Grand Junction Pipe will maintain a 30 foot mining setback from all structures to remain on
site,
In response to your Second Adequacy Review letter dated May 6, 1999, concerning the inlet and
outlet structures to the pond, the following comenis aze offered.
We would like to request that the geotechnical and stability analysis be delayed at this time for the
following reasons. The inlet and outlet structures were required by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife
Service to eliminate the problem of nonnative fish entering the pond, reproducing and them
returning to the river after a high water event. It was though after time that the structures would
allow the river enter the pond and silt it in over time. The Service provided recommendations as to
how the structures should be constructed. A conceptual plan was included for the 404 Permit
application to the Corps of Engineers. Mr. Glen Miller, an adjacent property owner, has concerns
that the structures as shown would wash out and allow the river channel to relocate, and thus
loosing his river front.
