Mr. Rob Helmick
:~ ~ July 20, 1999
Page 6
~_
This operation is directly related to the construction activity in the area.
Generally, in the winter months mining activity will be light. Through the spring
it will increase, with summer and fall in full production. Generally, the summer
and fall months will move twice the volume of material as the winter months.
Table 5.1 summarizes the estimated traffic impacts. A separate report gives more
detail.
TABLE 5-1 TRUCK TRAFFIC GENERATION
Quarter of the year Dec., Jan.,
Feb. These quarters aze
offset by one month of a normal calendar year quarter. The volume of sales in the
summer and fall months is generally double that of the winter months. Using
these percentages for 400,000 tons per year sales, we then calculate the tons sold
per quarter. From the calculation of tons sold per quarter the truck trips per day
are estimated. The number of truck trips may vary from the average and is
dependent on the seasonal business and the schedules of construction projects.
The number of employees working on the site will be approximately 15.
Therefore, there will be approximately 30 trips per day generated by employees.
Also expected are an additional eight trips per day that will be generated by
deliveries, vendors, inspections and miscellaneous traffic.
:1
