***
(h) Monitoring of water quality and water level (see Section 2.0 of the
Water Monitorine Plan Appendix I) in all well completions above the
Dissolution Surface will occur on a monthly basis during the baseline
period. The completions above the Dissolution Surface will be sampled
for water levels and analyzed for the constituents on the WQ2 Table 3 list,
page 12 of Appendix I. The Dissolution Surface completions will be
sampled monthly for water level, conductivity and temperatures.
Samples and measurements shall be rekresentative of the monitored
activity. The Permittee shall utilize the applicable analytical methods
described in Table 1 of 40 CFR § 136.3, or in Appendix III of 40 CFR §
261, and the QA/QC methods approved in the Appendix I Water
Monitoring Plan.
(i) Analysis of Monitoring Data to Assess Potential Cavity Failure or
Instrumentation Problems The operator shall review the information on
temperature, pressure, flow and concentration density that exist in the
nahcolite solution mining wells during normal mining operations on a
daily basis. The data shall be analysed to determine if any of the following
conditions are present in an individual cavity:
(1) the pressure differential (difference between inlet and dischazge
pressure) increases, but the concentration of nahcolite in the
production fluid does not increase;
(2) the volumetric flow rates of the injection fluid and production fluid
differ by greater than 15 percent;
(3) the cavity temperature does not increase as the injection fluid
temperature increases;
(4) the cavity temperature increases, but the concentration of nahcolite
in the production fluid does not increase; or
(5) the pressure in the cavity decreases with a corresponding decrease
in production fluid flow.
(j) Corrective Measures in Response to Monitoring Data Analysis Should
any of the conditions in Section 1. (i), above, exist for a ninety six hour
(96 hr) duration during normal well operations the following corrective
action process shall be initiated:
Minor Modification No. 6 UIC Permit No. CO30858-00000 Page 3 of 4
