Highway Culvert Outlet Hay Bale Dike Installation <br />The CONTRACTOR shall install a double-thickness drainage control <br />dike below the outlet end of each of the two (2> highway culverts <br />shown on Exhibit 3. Each dike shall be placed approximately 50 <br />feet below the outlet end of each culvert and positioned just below <br />the lower end of the riprapped portion of the outfall channel. <br />Each dike shall be a minimum of 25 feet long and oriented <br />perpendicular to the line of the drainage channel. The center of <br />the dike shall match the center line of the drainage channel, and <br />the dike shall be placed to form a light "V" or chevron pointed <br />down the hill slope. The installation and anchoring of the dike <br />shall conform to the specifications set forth under section 3.3.6 <br />above, with the exception that each of the two highway culvert <br />dikes shall consist of a double row of hay bales, with the second <br />row of bales staggered or offset such that the ends of each of the <br />first row bales meet the mid point of the bales comprising the <br />second row, similar to how brick courses are laid out in masonry <br />construction. <br />3.3 Measurement and Payment <br />No measurement for payment shall be made for drainage control system <br />construction. Payment shall be made for the lump sum bid price <br />established on the bid schedule. The price bid shall include all of the <br />CONTRACTOR'S cost of whatever nature to complete the above describedd <br />work in accordance with the specifications. <br />4.0 Equipment Rental <br />4.1 Description <br />Since several weeks will have elapsed between completion of regrading and <br />initiation of revegetation at the East Mine, some erosion repair work may <br />be necessary to eliminate rill and gullies prior to commencement of <br />seedbed preparation. This specification covers the furnishing and <br />operation of equipment for necessary erosion repair and other <br />supplemental earthwork as directed by the PROJECT MANAGER. <br />4.2 Equipment <br />All equipment shall be of the type and equipped as specified in the <br />Special Conditions and on the Invitation and Bid. Mounted or attached <br />equipment shall be that customarily manufactured for the respective size <br />of equipment being offered. Size will be determined by maximum flywheel <br />horsepower ratings at sea level and are the minimum size that shall be <br />furnished and operated. <br />
