Highway Culvert Outlet Hay Bale Dike Installation The CONTRACTOR shall install a double-thickness drainage control dike below the outlet end of each of the two (2> highway culverts shown on Exhibit 3. Each dike shall be placed approximately 50 feet below the outlet end of each culvert and positioned just below the lower end of the riprapped portion of the outfall channel. Each dike shall be a minimum of 25 feet long and oriented perpendicular to the line of the drainage channel. The center of the dike shall match the center line of the drainage channel, and the dike shall be placed to form a light "V" or chevron pointed down the hill slope. The installation and anchoring of the dike shall conform to the specifications set forth under section 3.3.6 above, with the exception that each of the two highway culvert dikes shall consist of a double row of hay bales, with the second row of bales staggered or offset such that the ends of each of the first row bales meet the mid point of the bales comprising the second row, similar to how brick courses are laid out in masonry construction. 3.3 Measurement and Payment No measurement for payment shall be made for drainage control system construction. Payment shall be made for the lump sum bid price established on the bid schedule. The price bid shall include all of the CONTRACTOR'S cost of whatever nature to complete the above describedd work in accordance with the specifications. 4.0 Equipment Rental 4.1 Description Since several weeks will have elapsed between completion of regrading and initiation of revegetation at the East Mine, some erosion repair work may be necessary to eliminate rill and gullies prior to commencement of seedbed preparation. This specification covers the furnishing and operation of equipment for necessary erosion repair and other supplemental earthwork as directed by the PROJECT MANAGER. 4.2 Equipment All equipment shall be of the type and equipped as specified in the Special Conditions and on the Invitation and Bid. Mounted or attached equipment shall be that customarily manufactured for the respective size of equipment being offered. Size will be determined by maximum flywheel horsepower ratings at sea level and are the minimum size that shall be furnished and operated.
