Page 3
Block 2
Moffat Area, Block 2 was evaluated using the methods described in
BLM Technical Note No. 346. The erosion condition composite soil
surface factor score for this site is 18.0, which places it in the
Stable erosion class. The tabulated results for this survey are
shown in Table 2. This block scored slightly worse than last
year's report which is indicative of an extremely wet spring
season. One gully is prominent through the center of this block on
an east west orientation. This gully appears to be the expression
of a natural drainage channel, and will be placed on the mitigation
list. Details of the mitigation will be covered in' a later
section.
Block 3
Moffat Area, Block 3 was evaluated using the methods described in
BLM Technical Note No. 346. The erosion condition composite soil
surface factor score for this site was 23.0, which places it in the
Slight erosion class. This area was seeded last spring and resides
on a fairly steep hillside. Billing is quite apparent on the area
but no mitigation is proposed for this year in order to allow
vegetation to establish. Should these rills not heal during the
1995 growth season, mitigation will be proposed in 1996. The
tabulated results for this survey are shown in Table 3.
Block 4
Moffat Area, Block 4 was evaluated using the methods described in
BLM Technical Note No. 346. The erosion condition composite soil
surface factor score for this site is 26.0, which places it in the
Slight erosion class. The tabulated results for this survey are
shown in Table 4. This area degraded slightly compared to last
year. The primary reason is the forming of some gullies toward the
north-south center of the block along the western edge. This area
will be placed on the mitigation activity list.
Block 5
Moffat Area, Block 5 was evaluated using the methods described in
BLM Technical Note No. 346. The erosion condition composite soil
surface factor score for this site is 32.0, which places it in the
Slight erosion class. The tabulated results for this survey are
shown in Table 5. This is another area that was seeded in the
spring of 1994. Mitigation is planned on this block for this year
to repair gullies adjacent to Moffat Area Down Drain #1.
6/22/95 DLB
