We feel that the required changes are rather minor in
nature and may come under a Technical Revision, rather than requiring compete plan revrsioir.
• The original water supply & sediment ponds became so sediment loaded that it was
necessary to close those filled portions and shift both ponds to the north in a combined single
pond. This was done in an appropriate unused portion of the permit area on the same bench
as the original ponds and currently occupies only 0.72 acres. The combined area of the two
original ponds was 0.90 acres (0.31 ac. for the east/supply pond, 0.59 ac. for the west
sedimentation pond). North portions of the original ponds' areas are incorporated in the
current single pond, as shown on the attached map.
• It appears that upper supply portions of the Doing Ditch are in such disrepair that they are
unserviceable, and are unlikely to be repaired in the near future. Ranch operations have
traditionally supplemented Doing Ditch water supply by pumping directly from the river. An
alternate point of diversion was applied for by Silver Hawk Ranch and granted by the Water
Court. Water rights for other than irrigation from that source have been filed and granted for
Silver Hawk Ranch. Copies of that approval are being forwarded to you.
• The silt fence filtration dike required by the operations plan at the outlet of the sediment pond
has been installed. Photos of that installation are being forwarded to you. Please note that in
its current configuration the permitted site does not require a certification under the Colorado
General Storm Water Permit, since storm water from the site is prevented from off-site
discharge to the river system. The sole discharge from the site is where it is discharged to the
host Silver Hawk Ranch irrigation holding pond and irrigation distribution system.
• Well Permit # 215835 was obtained Colorado Water Resources for the well at the west
boundary for ongoing ranch use. The well final installation report is being forwarded to you.
2
