• 75.370 VENTILATION PLAN ADDENDUM
General:
The ventilation shaft will be installed in the North Mains
area at Crosscut #1, in the "0" Entry. The shaft will have a
16-foot finished diameter. Following the completion of the
shaft, the air courses (Intakes) will be examined for "dead"
areas and corrective action taken to eliminate any that may
occur. All air from the pilot hole will be vented to the
return.
Zn order to assure ventilation during the raise boring, one
il" diameter hole will be drilled outside of the 11" raise
bore pilot hole. The 11" pilot hole will in-gas to the mine
and the 11" additional drillhole will have blowing ventilation
to the cutting face as shown on Figure 8 (ventilation during
raiseboring process).
Preparation:
During the development of the approaches to the shaft bottom
area, the ventilation will be directed and regulated to the #1
Entry air split and directed to the return at the end of that
split. No air will be allowed to enter the main intake air
course. The minimum required air quantity will be used so that
face operations wild not be affected.
Shaft Excavation:
During excavation of the shaft bottom and shaft, the
ventilation will be directed and regulated to the #1 Entry
split on to the return. A minimum air quantity of 20,000 CFM
will be used to ventilate the shaft bottom. This air will be
measured in Crosscut #1, between #0 Entry and #1 Entry to
assure that the minimum is available at the shaft bottom.
Additional air may be entering the project site that is
directed immediately down #1 Entry.
The methane content will be monitored during the excavation of
the shaft at the bottom of the shaft at a safe location
downwind and within 1 foot of the drill steel at the top of
the hole prior to start-up of the raise-bore machine and at
-''20-minute intervals while the raise-bore machine is in
operation. Since methane is not anticipated, if the methane
1 content exceeds 0.55 in the affected air course at the bottom
3
AFPRUVED CMS & H ~ ~ ~ P 2 4'95
t
