The primary product is coarse concrete <br />aggregate. The processing plant is equipped with a Johnson-Diarch <br />dust suppression system. All crushing points and at certain points <br />of conveyance the material is treated with a mixture of water and <br />a wetting agent, The wetting agent is a compc~tcnd that relieves the <br />surface tension of water which makes it more solvent, The mixture <br />is one gallon of wetting agent to 1,000 gallons of water, The <br />agent more then doubles the effectiveness of. the water. <br />All roads within the operation are water trnated to minimize <br />dust. The access road from the stockpile area to the highway <br />entrance is paved. <br />Carlson's report covers Cooley's activities during the previous <br />years cf operation on monitoring fugitive dust along their property <br />lines. Included in this report is a copy of a field ,.nspcction of <br />the operation by the Jefferson County an%l Colorado Health <br />Departments on October 31, 1974 that revealed no vi:,lations. In <br />this respect 4ooley has never received a complaint from any agency <br />or from the public. <br />Safety precautions for both the taorkmen and public are <br />continually being implemented. The Colorado Bureau of Mires makes <br />an annual inspection of all facets of the operation. Their concern <br />is for both the workmen and the public, They have made numerous <br />recommendations on the operations since its beginning, but since <br />the county is more publicly concerned, only the precautions <br />directly related caill be mentioned, <br />Ways and means to transport the material over the public <br />highways safely are being employed, The gravel company's personnel <br />along with the truck operators are directed to inspect the <br />equipment, load the material to avoid spillage, remove all loose <br />rock from bed ledges, check and secure tail gates before and after <br />loading, facilities provided for wetting down materials th2t might <br />be blown from the truck bed during transit, routing of deliveries <br />to avoid congested areas, and observe and obey all traffic lacas, <br />signs and directions, <br />The major. haul routes from site to market are Colo, 8, 285, <br />and 17.1 and all legal truck routes branching therefrom. <br />,4pproximately 15% via Colo. 8 and 17.1, with the remaining via <br />Colo. 8 and 785, <br /> <br />
