Measurement and Payment
No measurement for payment will be made for this bid item. Payment will be
for the lump-sum bid price. The price bid shall include all of the
CONTRACTOR'S costs of whatever nature to provide two complete closures,
according to the specifications.
BID ITEM 3: REGRADE ADIT, STAGING, AND SEDIMENT POND AREAS
After completion of the bulkhead seal construction, the adits will be
backfilled. Initial backfill material will be coal waste, concrete pieces,
other non-vegetated spoil material and roadbase as directed by the PROJECT
MANAGER. Initial material will be backfilled against the bulkhead seals to
completely fill the openings. These waste soils are primarily located in the
overcast, staging, sediment pond and haul road areas. Waste soils will be
excavated to expose original soils. After all waste materials have been used,
subooils will be used to bring the areas to approximate original contour which
will blend into the surrounding topography. Topsoils will then be used to
cover the backfilled and regraded areas at a six-inch (6") minimum depth.
Topsoils will be delineated by the PROJECT MANAGER when subsoils are obtained
and will be salvaged for the final cover material. After the final grade is
obtained, contour furrows 18 inches (18") deep with 1h:3V sideslopes will be
constructed. Furrows will be on 20-foot (20') centers beginning and ending in
existing vegetation. Any trash encountered during backfilling and/or
regrading will be hauled to a county approved landfill. Trash includes, but
is not limited to, culvert pieces, downed and abandoned electrical lines,
cable and miscellaneous metal.
Measurement and Payment
No measurement for payment will be made for this bid item. Payment will be
the lump sum bid price. The price bid will include ail costs of whatever
nature to complete regrading according to these specifications.
BID ITEM 4: RECLAIM ROAD SECTIONS
Delineated road sections will be reclaimed to blend the upslope cuts with the
downslope areas. The procedure will be as follows. First approximate grade
will be obtained initially using downcast material from the staging area.
Next, shrub clumps will be transplanted, using a track hoe, from the downcast
area to the upsloped backfilled area. The next backfill material will be
obtained from the exposed subsoils in the area from where the shrub transplant
was obtained. Another shrub clump will be obtained from the adjacent downeast
area and will be placed on the backfilled slope and so on. The final intent
is to achieve a slope which will blend the upper cut to beyond the downcast
side and will contain line shrub clumps on the upper side of the backfilled
road section.
Measurement and Payment
No measurement for payment will be made for this bid item. Payment will be
the lump sum bid price.
-4-
