Additional equipment may be required, dependent on the nature of the work being <br />performed. <br />g. A working speedometer when the vehicle is capable of exceeding the posted speed limit <br />in the area the equipment is being operated in. <br />Vehicles may be inspected by Colowyo Safety Department personnel prior to being allowed on the <br />mine site. Each item listed above must be in good operating order. It is the responsibility of the <br />operator of the equipment to perform repairs as necessary. . <br />10. Equipment must be inspected daily, prior to use, for safety problems. This inspection must be <br />documented and available for examination. <br />COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS <br />EMERGENCY AND EVACUATION PROCEDURES <br />FIREWARNING AND FIREFIGHTING <br />HEALTH <br />Communications are an important and vital part of safety. Any time you must communicate with someone <br />else here at Colowyo, you must ensure that the message was understood. Do not assume the other <br />person understands the message unless you receive acknowledgment from them. This is known as <br />POSITIVE COMMUNICATION and must be practiced at all times when using radios, intercoms, <br />telephones and hand signals. Make sure the person you are contacting has received the message to <br />- - -- ensure positive communications. - --- - - <br />All accidents and close calls must be reported to the nearest Colowyo supervisor IMMEDIATELY. <br />Accidents can be reported either by radio or telephone. <br />When reporting by radio: <br />1. Make certain the radio is turned on. <br />2. Set the CB channel selector to 33. (Channel 30 or 36 may also be used.) <br />3. Announce "MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY, this is an emergency, I need unit 360 or 361" If there <br />is no response, repeat the message until you receive an answer. <br />a. In some areas of the mine it may be necessary to announce, "MAYDAY, MAYDAY, <br />MAYDAY, this is an emergency, I need Security" <br />4. Tell the responding parry: <br />a. Who you are. <br />b. Where you are located. <br />c. What the nature of the emergency is <br />d. What assistance you require (medical, fire assistance). <br />When reporting by telephone, dial 1599. This call will be received by Security personnel. Give the <br />information listed above. <br />Whether calling from radio or telephone, it is important to never use the name or names of persons <br />involved in the emergencv. Wait for instructions and do not break contact until told to do so. <br />
