' Photographic Record
Yi thin each reclamation area, representative color photographs were taken to document the
' appearance of the vegetation in 1991. Yithin each photo, a placard identifies the particular
reclamation area being illustrated. Photo locations are shown on the sample location map (Nap
1).
' Data and Suanarv Reports Discussion
Data and summary reports for Nature Reclamation, Riparian Reclamation and 1990 Seeded Area are
contained in Appendix A through D. Please note that trensect or plot numbers may not be in
' sequence in the data reports because of formatting in the report generator. The list of species
encountered during 1991 sampling is contained in Appendix E.
Cover data is presented by sample trensect and as summarized data which includes absolute and
' relative cover percentages, frequency and constancy percentages, and values for importance and
rank. Importance value provides an estimate of the relative dominance of species in the sample
' unit. Its value is determined by adding relative cover pi us relative frequency. Ranking is
then assigned to species based on importance values. A value of 1 corresponds to the species
' with the highest importance value. Total stratified vegetation cover includes first and second
hit cover and is used in determining species composition. In the Lover reports, second hit
cover is shown in parenthesis following first hit cover values. A value of 0.0 indicates less
t than 0.1 percent cover (i.e., trace). Total non-stratified vegetation cover equals only the sum
of first hit cover and when combined with litter may be equated to that portion of the ground
protected from rainfall impact.
Droduction data is presented by trensect and ae summarized data. The summarized data includes
mean values in grams per square meter, pounds per acre end kilograms per hectare. Relative
' production percentages ere also tabulated. Production data was collected by growth form with
the exception of alfalfa (medicaao saliva) which was collected separately to determine its
relative contribution to total production. An 'unknown" designator in the introduced and native
' perennial graminoids header relates to seasonality. Cool and warm season greminoids were not
separated in the field at the time of sampling, and hence seasonality information was not known.
Shrub density date is presented by trensect and as summarized data. The summarized date
' includes mean values for stems per plot, stems per acre and stems per hectare. Relative density
' 3
