<br />Task 2 -Baden ~lvenae:(;oa1 Loadoat <br />The purpose of this task is to remove and dispose of coal, coal fines and other imported <br />rock from portions of a six acre industrial site previously used as railroad coal loadout The <br />work will include grading, so that drainage is away from the AT. & S.F. railroad tracks, and <br />revegetation of a portion of the site, near the Baca Ditch. <br />Work Description <br />The area containing coal to be removed comprises some four (4) acres, and extends <br />approximately 950 feet north of Linden Avenue, between the A.T. 9 SF. Railroad tracks <br />and Baca irrigation ditch. Coal depth varies between 4 and 31 inches as shown by thiclmess <br />contours on Map #3. Coal and other imported rock will be removed to a de th sufficient <br />to obtain a 1% grade away from the railroad tracks. Grading shall begin six (6~inches from <br />the ties at their bottom elevation. This will cause surface water to collect in a Swale located <br />west of and paralleling•We Baca ditch. Near the railroad tracks We bottom of the coal layer <br />to be removed is marked by the presence of red limestone ballast, otherwise natural soil is <br />present Removed material is to be disposed of at the City of Trinidad landfill located on <br />Indiana Street, approximately 2 miles from the loadout, or the municipal power plant <br />located on U.S. 160-135, near the north city limit of Trinidad, one mile from the loadout <br />The general location of a sewer manhole is shown on Map #3. The contractor is <br />-responsible for locating all above and below Stuface utilities and protection of same from <br />damage. The Baca ditch is an active irrigation ditch and is not to be filled or otherwise <br />interfered with. <br />Revegetation of the disturbed area will be limited to a 100 foot wide section paralleling the <br />Baca ditch. <br />There will be no measurement for payment for Task #2. Payment for Task #2 will be <br />reflected in a lump sum bid under item #2 on the Bid Schedule. <br />Task 3 -Section 15 Stream Realignment . <br />ape of Work . <br />This Task requires the furnishing of all labor and equipment necessary to excavate and <br />establish a new stream channel for an unnamed stream emptying into Del Augua Creek in <br />the extreme south center of Section 15. <br />Work Description <br />Approximately four hundred feet'of new stream channel will be excavated through sur6cial <br />clay, silt, and unconsolidated sediment containing occasional coal, and other imported rock. <br />Bedrock is believed to be between five and ten feet below the surface, and consists of silt <br />stone and sandstone with a notable absence of. gravel normal to stream laid deposits. <br />Bedrock may or may not be encountered during excavation. The new channel will be twenty <br />feet in width at the bottom with a high berm on.the northwest side (see Drawing #1). <br />Excess material from channel construction shall be used in construction of the berms, <br />and jor disposed of in the Pona 13 P10 removal, and regrading or embanlmzent construction <br />for Pond 22-P10.
