' will be disposed of promptly at astate-permitted waste disposal site or sites.
"Waste" means all discarded matter including but not limited to human waste,
' trash, garbage, refuse, oil, petroleum products, filters, welding rod, or equipment.
Portable toilets will be available. Disposal of al] liquid and solid waste produced
during operation of the ROW will be done so as not to impact the air, soil, water,
' vegetation, or animals.
3.2 Environmental Protection Measures
' 3.2.1 Cultural Resources
' Information on cultural resources occurring along the Yankee Gulch Project
pipeline corridor has been taken from the environmental assessments for two
ngl pipelines that the project pipeline corridor will largely parallel (Barrett 1994,
CIG 1995). Areas of the Yankee Gulch Project pipeline corridor that are within
the 125-foot construction ROW but were not covered under these two surveys
' will be surveyed as required by the BLM. Additional surveys that may be
required are described below.
' No cultural resources surveys are required in Hatch Gulch (mile 2 to mile
6.5). Previous surveys of Hatch Gulch did not encounter cultural resources, and
the potential for discovering sites along the valley bottom is considered low.
' • No cultural resources surveys are required from the point that the
pipeline corridor exits Hatch Gulch and to the Greasewood Compressor Station
' (mile 6.5 to approximately mile 8.5) as long as the disturbance is within 100 feet
of the centerline of the existing parallel pipeline ROW. Since the project is
' proposing a 125-foot construction ROW, and assuming there is no overlap with a
50-foot existing pipeline ROW (25 feet on either side), the existing survey
coverage is valid to a distance of 75 feet from the edge of the existing ROW.
' Thus, additional clearances will need to be conducted prior to construction in
any area where the additional 50 feet of construction ROW is actually necessary.
• Anew cultural resources survey of the proposed Davis Point pipeline
corridor section may be required because none has been conducted previously
along this particular reach. Specifically, the survey would include the segment
' from the point on Davis Point at which the proposed pipeline route diverges
from the existing ngl pipeline corridor to the point at which it rejoins the
existing Unocal corridor near the confluence of East and Middle Fork Parachute
' Creek (mile 32 to mile 35).
The primary form of mitigation for cultural resources will be avoidance. The
I primary treatment choice would be to narrow the ROW to produce the least
amount of disturbance. Depending on the value of the resource, minor
excavation and data recovery to full excavation and data recovery could be
'
PiPeWe wnm,aenn s~mm,ry 12

' Ya~ee GWah Sodium Minerals Prom
Amenon Soda, L.L.P.
