1
t Agricultural Lands: Construction on agricultural lands would be timed to
avoid wet weather and/or critical farming/ranching operations, as specified by
the landowner. Other protection measures would include the segregation and
conservation of topsoil. Rock brought to the surface by construction operations
' would be buried or removed from the ROW during restoration. At the
landowner's request, backfill would not be mounded over the trench to avoid
interrupting irrigation water distribution. Weed control measures would be
implemented, and revegetation efforts would be repeated, if necessary.
• Steep Slopes: Steep, rocky terrain where slope stability may be a concern
has been identified at four locations: Davis Point; the northern end of Barnes
Ridge; immediately south of the second Piceance Creek crossing; and at the upper
end of Hatch Gulch. The Davis Point section of the proposed Yankee Gulch
' Project pipeline route is the only area with significant construction constraints
related to slope stability. Slope stability practices will be implemented in
construction of the Davis Point section of the Yankee Gulch Project pipelines.
3.1.6 Fences and Other Improvements
' American Soda will minimize disturbance to existing fences and other
improvements on public lands. American Soda will promptly repair
improvements to their original state or better. Functional use of these
' improvements will be maintained at all times. American Soda will contact the
owner of any improvements prior to disturbing them.
1
1
1
1

1
~~
l_J
American Soda will contact the grazing lessee prior to crossing any fence on
public land or any fence between public and private land and will offer the lessee
an opportunity to be present when the fence is cut so the lessee may be satisfied
that the fence is adequately braced and secured. Each fence crossed by this ROW
will be braced and secured to prevent slacking of the wire before cutting the wire
for pipeline construction. The opening thus created will be temporarily closed as
necessary during construction to prevent passage of livestock.
When construction associated with this ROW disrupts or destroys a natural
barrier used for livestock control, gaps thus opened will be fenced to prevent
livestock passage. The fence will be constructed to BLM or landowner
specifications.
3.1.7 Materials and Equipment Movement
During pipe stringing operations, pipe will be hauled in accordance with the
following restrictions:
• Trucks may haul during daylight hours only, 7 days a ~veek.
• No escort vehicles are required.
Pipelve trdomuGOn Summary 1
Yankee Gulch Sodium Mirerala Pmject
' Amerinn Soda, LL.P.
