Disposal - ALL portions of each structure removed by the CONTRACTOR <br />u no taken as salvage shall be disposed of within the East Mine <br />working area limits or hauled to and placed within the excavated <br />trench at the Hawk's Nest Mine refuse disposal area located adjacent <br />to the Delta County Landfill site near Hotchkiss, The location of <br />the disposal area is shown on attached Exhibit 5. On-site disposal <br />shall consist of either backstowing non-combustible materials within <br />the two open mine entries and/or by burying demolished materials at <br />the based of areas to be backfilled during regarding work, ALL <br />items backstowed within the two mine entries shall be <br />non-combustible and shall be placed beyond the earth material <br />backfill areas specified for the mine entry sealing and backfilling <br />work under Section II1,3 of the Special Conditions, Disposal of <br />demolished portions of structures by burial within areas to be <br />backfilled shall be accomplished by stacking or otherwise piling the <br />material of the base of the area to be backfilled and in the region <br />where the height of the fill will be greatest, A graphic <br />representation of this method is shown on attached Exhibit 4C. In <br />most cases these areas will be along the toe of existing hill or <br />bench slopes and in the bottom of existing sediment ponds, <br />Demolished materials shall be placed in such a manner that prevents <br />the formation of slippage surfaces between disposed items and earth <br />fill material. Buried materials shall be placed a minimum of 4 feet <br />below final regraded surfaces (measured vertically), and in no case <br />shall buried material other than concrete be piled or placed within <br />the fill higher than 30% of the vertical distance between the <br />existing surface elevation and the final regraded surface <br />elevation. When authorized or permitted by the proper fire <br />authorities, the CONTRACTOR may dispose of flammable materials by <br />burning on the project site, provided all requirements set forth by <br />the authorities are met. In all cases, the authority to burn shall <br />not relieve the CONTRACTOR in any way from damages which may result <br />from his operations. <br />Concrete Removal and Disposal - All concrete foundations, footers, <br />oors, wa s, roo s, s a s, pads and other concrete items <br />associated with structures and facilities to be removed under <br />Section III,2 of the Special Conditions, and all other concrete <br />structures associated with the Hawk's Nest Mine-East Mine Area, <br />shall be removed down to a minimum vertical distance of 4 feet below <br />the final regraded surface. Portions of concrete structures that <br />will be situated deeper than 4 feet blow the final regraded surface <br />can be left in place if desired. This specification also applies to <br />all reinforcing rod, wire mesh, or other non-concrete materials <br />found within or otherwise affixed to the concrete material, ALL <br />concrete and reinforcing material shall be disposed of by burial <br />within fill areas, backstowing within the mine entries, or by <br />disposal within the excavated trench at the Hawk's Nest Mine refuse <br />disposal area near Hotchkiss, <br />-7- <br />
