2.0 STRUCTURAL DEMOLITION AND REMOVAL
2.1 Description
This specification covers all work required to demolish, raze, or otherwise
dismantle and dispose of all structures, facilities, and utilities listed
under item 2.2.C below. Structures and facilities are generally depicted on
Exhibit 3A. The Coal Preparation or Wash Plant is depicted on Exhibits 6A
through 6E. This specification also covers the removal and disposal of all
mining related equipment, materials, parts, supplies and garbage remaining
within the working area limits of the East mine area. The working area limits
are delineated on attached Exhibit 3A.
2.2 Execution
A. Salvage
The CONTRACTOR is allowed salvage rights to all mining related
structures, facilities, parts, supplies and materials remaining within
the East mine working area limits. Exceptions to salvage rights consist
of the Delta Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) power line and items
associated with the highway right of way such as signs and markers.
The OWNER does not represent or guarantee that any of the items remaining
on the project site at the time of the pre-bid meeting will be on the
site at the time structural demolition and removal operations begin. The
OWNER is not responsible for any subsequent unauthorized removal from the
site, movement of, or damage to any of the structures, facilities and/or
mining related materials which were in place at the time of the on-site
pre-bid meeting. The CONTRACTOR shall understand that the dollar amount
bid for demolition and removal of each item listed in the bid schedule
shall consist of the total cost of demolition or dismantling plus removal
or disposal and less the anticipated value of salvageable items that are
anticipated to be on the site at the time structural demolition
operations begin. No additional payment will be made above the price bid
on account of any salvageable portions of structures or other salvageable
items having been removed, moved around, or damaged.
B. Demolition and Removal Performance Standards
The CONTRACTOR shall demolish or dismantle, remove from the mine site if
salvaged, or dispose of on site or at the refuse disposal area all of the
structures, facilities and materials described in Section 2.2.C below,
and in accordance with the following performance standards:
1. Removal - The CONTRACTOR shall remove all above grade portions of
eacF~escribed structure, including all inside contents and any
other items affixed to or associated with the structure. In no case
shall any materials be left on the surface of or outside the working
area limits, unless authorized by the PROJECT MANAGER.
-6-
