- ~-

Mr. W.D. Lamoreux - 2 - September 21, 1989
1. Demolition and removal of overland conveyor and associated structures,
including supports, foundations and CMP which runs beneath the Dortal
bench.
Facilities removal is discussed on pages 2.05-33 through 2.05-34(a) of
the permit application. The only facilities approved for retention
for the postmining land use are the truck scales and the concrete
storage bins (denoted as "Coal Storage Area" on Map 11). Any concrete
foundations which remain on site will need to be buried at least two feet
below final grade. The sediment pond and associated structures including
collection ditches and culverts will need to be maintained until a
satisfactory stand of vegetation is established on the disturbed area.
Some modification of the existing sediment control system may be
warranted at this time, but elimination of the sediment control system
cannot occur until the site is stabilized. We would like to discuss the
sediment control maintenance/reclamation issue with you before you submit
a final reclamation schedule.
2. Demolition and burial or removal of cinder block structures on Dortal
bench.
Concrete block structures to be demolished include a portal extension,
an equipment storage shed and a mine fan housing, all located on the
upper bench. After completion of demolition, the material could be
disposed of by hauling offsite or by excavating a trench and burying the
material at least two feet below grade, prior to backfilling.
3. Demolition and removal of electrical facilities, including power pole and
portable substation.
These facilities will need to be removed and properly disposed of.
La Plata Electric Association may be able to provide assistance (see
pane 2.05-24 of the application).
4. Removal of all remaining equipment, trash, scrap iron, aluminum and other
non coal waste.
All such material will need to be removed from the site prior to
initiation of reclamation earthwork. This would include wood and metal
components of the external portal structures.
5. Permanent sealing and backfilling of the manway portal, the belt portal
and the fan portal.
Permanent sealing specifications are addressed on panes 2.05-29 through
2.05-32 of the application, and must be in compliance with any further
requirements of the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
