Reclamation Plan: Reclamation activities will begin once mud pits are sufficiently dry to allow
regrading of each site to occur. Materials excavated for the mud pits will be redistributed over the
site, stockpiled topsoil will be respread, and broadcast seeding will occur over the entire disturbed
area using the following approved pastureland seed mixture from Permit No. C-82-056. Newly
constructed segments of access road will be reclaimed in a similar fashion with stockpiled topsoil
respread and disturbed areas broadcast seeded.
S ecies
Seeding Rate (PLS Ibs/acre)
Slender Wheatgrass 2.0
Intermediate Wheatgrass 2.0
Pubescent Wheatgrass 2.0
Desert Wheatgrass l.5
Orchazdgrass 0.5
Timothy 0.5
Regaz Meadow Brome 0.5
Lincoln Smooth Brome 1.0
Alfalfa 0.25
Cicer Milkvetch 0.25
Total 10.5
6.) Endangered or Threatened Species
The Colorado Division of Wildlife was contacted for a determination as to whether or not the
proposed exploration program jeopardizes any listed threatened or endangered species. A copy of
the proposed drill site and road location map was forwarded to Mr. Jim Hicks with the Colorado
Division of Wildlife along with a request to review the proposed exploration locations for any
potential conflicts with listed endangered species.
!n addition, on the afternoon of June 25, 1997, Mr. Terry Ireland of the Grand ]unction Office of
the USFWS was contacted to identify any currently listed threatened or endangered species
potentially occurring within the project area. Mr. Ireland identified two (2) currently listed species
as potential inhabitants of Township 5 North, Range 86 West, 6's Principle Meridian, Spiranthes
diluvialis (Ute Lady's Tresses), and fialieaeetus leucocephalus (Bald Eagle). In addition, the
Upper Colorado River Basin has been identified as providing critical habitat for four (4)
endangered fish species: Pytchocheilus lucius (Colorado Squawfish), Gila cypha (Humpback
Chub), Gila elegans (Bonytail Chub) and Xyrauchen texanus (Razorback Sucker). Lastly, two (2)
candidate species were noted for the area: boreal toad and Canada lynx.
With respect to the Ute Lady's Tresses, the habitat for this species is defined to occur at elevations
less than 6500'. All disturbance and activity associated with this project will occur at elevations
well in excess of 6500'. Raptor surveys completed in the area during the spring of 1997 by Mr.
John Monarch of Monazch and Associates did not document the presence of bald eagles in the
project area. No water depletions are anticipated as a result of the proposed exploration efforts,
therefore, no impacts are anticipated for the endangered fish species identified. The boreal toad
habitat typically occurs at elevations exceeding 7500'. All disturbance and activity associated with
this project will occur at elevations below of 7500'. Lastly, the project area is too low to provide
1:\document\karl\97 not
