Task 4 REVEGETATION Revegetation procedures will be performed after September 20, 1996. The awarded CONTRACTOR will notify the PROJECT MANAGER 2 (two) weeks in advance of his notice to proceed with the revegetation phase of the project. The OWNER will supply all the seed for the reseeding. The CONTRACTOR will supply the fertilizer, mulch, equipment for chiseling or other approved technique for seedbed preparation, fertilizer application, seeding, mulching, and crimping. Earthmoving activities related to recontouring and backfilling are estimated to disturb approximately 6 acres which will require revegetation. All areas disturbed and/or compacted during reclamation work, backfills and any other areas specified in these Special Conditions will be revegetated according to the Revegetation Specifications (20.0) in the General Bid Specifications. Either commercial fertilizer or manure may be used for this project. Seed will be supplied by the OWNER. CONTRACTOR must supply fertilizer content tags and fertilizer and mulch weight tickets. Measurement and Payment Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump sum bid under Item 4 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover payment of all costs for seedbed preparation, fertilizing (including supplying fertilizer), seeding, mulching (including supplying mulch), and mulch crimping. These revegetation procedures will be performed on all regraded, backfilled and otherwise disturbed areas from project work. There will be no measurement for payment. Payment shall be as this task is completed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. Payment for this task shall be made only for that amount shown under Item 4 of the Bid Schedule. Any or all incidental costs incurred by the CONTRACTOR shall be reflected in each Bid Item or shall be paid at the CONTRACTOR's expense. TASK 5 EQUIPMENT RENTAL The previously backfilled portals require excavation to confirm the placement of bulkhead seals and to further strengthen the failing backfills. This procedure will be required before any regrading work is to be performed in the portal vicinity as directed by the PROJECT MANAGER. The machine for this bid item is a medium-sized hydraulic excavator with a minimum 25' reach and having a minimum 30" size bucket. Any additional machine work which may arise but is not covered under another task will also be covered under this task: Measurement and Payment Payment for this task will be reflected under Item 5 of the Bid Schedule as an hourly rate for a Hydraulic Excavator machine with a minimum 25' reach and 30" bucket size with operator. Bid hourly rate shall reflect the CONTRACTORS estimate for equipment and personnel costs per hour to complete the task. Measurement will be actual hours required to complete work outlined above and/or as directed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. All of the hours outlined under Item 5 are NOT guaranteed. 9
