This will accommodate recovery of the reserves that would normally
be left in the setback as well as allowing for more beneficial and larger water
storage reservoirs. The mine plan is more fully described in the Division of
Minerals and Geology application, a copy of which is enclosed in Attachment "A".
5.5 Reclamation Plan
The end use of the property will be two water storage reservoirs, a natural un-
lined pond (north pond) and wildlife habitat. After reclamation, the buildable
property to the west may be developed by the land owners to whatever uses are
allowed in the Adams County Comprehensive Plan and the Zoning Ordinance in
effect at that time.
In order to accommodate the water storage, a combination of a slurry wall and a
clay lining will be installed as mining progresses through the site. The existing
mine will need to be clay lined because of the mining techniques of the prior
operator. The subject properties will be isolated utilizing a slurry wall and tied
into this clay lining so that continuous reservoirs can be constructed. The slurry
walls and clay lining will be in place during 2001. The slurry wall and clay liner
are designed to meet State Engineer requirements.
Adequate soil exists on the property for reclamation. This topsoil will be
reserved, placed in a stockpile, and seeded to prevent erosion. Once mining
progresses to the point that reclamation can begin, the areas surrounding the
reservoir will be graded, the topsoil placed, and permanent re-vegetation will take
place. This reclamation plan is detailed in the Division of Minerals and Geology
application with specific types of re-vegetation materials to be used and specific
seed rates. Excessive soils exist given the mining and reclamation plans. The
excess soil will be sold and removed from the site.
Brighton Mine Conditional Use Permit 6
' CAMAS Coloratlo, INC.
20007WD
May 2000
