ripped prior to replacement of topsoil, and revegetated in
accordance with Task 7.
A. Orphan Pit
Reclamation of the 125-foot diameter, 30-foot deep Orphan Pit and
the associated 30-foot high, 400-foot long highwall to 2:1 (H:V)
will be backfilled with 20,000 cubic yards (Map 2A and Exhibit 1)
from an area 600 feet north of the pit and highwall.
The current configuration of the area is shown by Map 3; the
final configuration by Map 4. Backfilling must extend to the top
of the highwall-on the west side of the pit. No highwall
reduction or disturbance above this highwall shall take place.
Rough graded. slopes shall not be steeper the 2:1 (h:v). The high
point (point area) between the two low areas may need to be
reduced to blend with the remainder of the grading work at the
direction of the PROJECT MANAGER. An eight-foot (8') wide
trapezoidal Swale with 2:1 (H:V) sideslopes 2.5 feet wide shall
be established down the slope immediately south of the 400-foot
highwall, and down the slope created by the cut providing most of
the fill for the Orphan Pit. A contour furrow should be
established mid-slope on all 2:1 (H:V) sideslopes. Topsoil
Salvage and redistribution requirements are described in Task 6.
B. Duck Pond Pit
There are two, 25-foot wide roadways which require reclamation
following completion of work in the Orphan Pit. Both run south
from County Road 93 (aka Curby Ranch Road) from near the Tipple.
Road I is approximately 2600 feet long, and Road II is 1000 feet
long. (Map 2A). Coal waste should be removed from the surface of
the roadways and placed in the Duck Pond Pit. The roads should
be ripped with a 3-foot ripper, prior to seedbed preparation.
The Duck Pond Pit was opened in the mid-seventies. Reclamation
will produce side lopes gentler than 2.5:1 (H:V) and will re-
establish the drainage channel running west to east through the
area. Backfilling of the Duck Pond Pit will be accomplished with
coal waste on the bottom, followed by red clinker material and
then covered with spoil from the Weckerling spoil pile. Roughly
800 cy of red clinker material shall be removed and placed in the
Duck Pond Pit (See Exhibit 1). Following removal of red clinker,
the area shall be ripped prior to topsoil replacement (stated in
Task 6).
Approximately 1500 cubic yards of concrete, coal waste, and
miscellaneous metal and fiberglass debris will be moved 2800 feet
south from the tipple pond area to the Duck Pond Pit. Surface
mining related debris near the Orphan Pit will also be collected
for burial and placed in the Duck Pond Pit. Approximately 2100
-1a-
