All lands are located on the U.S.G.S. 7.5 quadrangle Johnny Moore Mountain. <br />The Wyoming Fuel Company, the original permittee of the Canadian Strip Mine, was issued the <br />original permit on December 1, 1981. There have been two subsequent renewals of this permit and <br />this will be the third midterm review for this mine. The current permit renewal was issued to the <br />Slurco Corporation on March 29, 1993, for a five year permit term from December I, 1991, to <br />December 1, 1996. The dates of the of the of the effective permit term have been changed to <br />coincide with the anniversary date of the original permit issuance and a permit term not exceeding five <br />years. The previous permit renewal expired May 16, 1992. <br />The current perrnittee is Slurco Corporation. The Division approved the transfer of the permit from <br />Wyoming Fuels to Slurco Corporation on December 20, 1991. Mining is complete at this mine and <br />this permit renewal is for a reclamation only permit. <br />Enforcement Actions <br />Since the renewal of the Slurco, Canadian Strip permit, four notices of violations were issued. They <br />are as follows: <br />NOV C-94024 <br />This NOV was issued on September 29, 1994 for failure to maintain the principle spillway of <br />impoundment #1, to protect the embankment from erosion and to provide proper riprap for the <br />emergency spillway. <br />Status: This violation has not yet been abated; this is required by October 31, 1994. <br />NOV C-94-025 <br />This NOV was issued on September 29, 1994 for failure to submit hydrologic monitoring data by <br />October 31 of each year as stipulated (#32) in the permit approval. <br />Status: No abatement is required. <br />NOV C-94-026 <br />This NOV was issued on September 29, 1994 for failure to have the appropriate records on file at a <br />public location as required in Rule 5.02.4. <br />Status: This violation has not yet been abated; this is required by October 31, 1994. <br />NOV C-94-027 <br />This NOV was issued on September 29, 1994 for failure to have proof that quarterly impoundment <br />inspections were conducted under the supervision of a professional engineer as required by Rule <br />4.05.9(13) <br />Status: This violation has not yet been abated that is required by October 31, 1994. <br />Slurco Corporation, C-81-026, Midterm Review October 5, 1994 <br />
