How will the impact <br />Q NFcSr~°° on elk be mitigated? More generally, how will wildlife be protected <br />from potentially hazardous materials? <br />2. Water Resources <br />~_+~~ t7a. How much water is to be used in this operation and what is the <br />r.51' industrial use water right associated with this water? <br />b. How are drainages to be protected from sedimentation and <br />D~k°'i'~ possible surface contamination during the mining and milling <br />operations'? <br />c. How are groundwater systems to be protected from seepage of <br />potentially toxic waters from the various tailings disposal <br />areas? How will potential seepage be detected? <br />(~3. Soils <br />The soils paragraph does not seem to make sense. Is the topsoil <br />composed of loams oi~ depths of 2.5 to 3 feet, or is it stony and <br />only 4 to 8 inches deep? If it is the shallower, stony soil, <br />what type soil is this? In either case, all of the topsoil <br />should be stripped for use in reclamation. Where is the topsoil <br />found and where is it absent? <br />Exhibit E <br />l.o l2 Under exhibit D, page 1, the vegetation on the site includes three <br />~ „,~„q trees species. Some of these species should be replanted in recla- <br />ti~ et,.?mation. <br />2. The diversity of the reclamation seed mix is not high enough to ensure <br />~( establishment of a diverse, long-lasting vegetative cover. I suggest <br />\ that more species be added, including a legume and a greater number <br />of adapted grass species. <br />~3. What are the recommendations concerning fertilization during recla- <br />mation? <br />4. How are the various tailings disposal areas to be reclaimed? Will <br />,~ ,~s'}` izthere not be some special methods associated with the reclaiming of <br />MI~ s bR d,~ytailings?
