Incident was a release of between 1200 and 2000 gallons of .a
recycled motor oil product used fur dust supressiorr on stoker
r_oal sold at the mine. The cause of the release was determined
to be a marmot stepping on and opening .a gate valve in lira with
the pipe used to fill the storage tank for the oiling system.

Some potential for release of the oil to Oak Creek may have
e:;isted, however the tipple area is designed to drain into .a
drainage network. that flows through a series of 4 containment
basins before discharging into Oak Creek. This discharge is
known as •001 in the mine's water discharge permit. All of the
material was contained in the ditches and first pond in the
series of 4. Therefore no hazard was or is present to Public
Hr+alth or the environment outside of the permit area.
