3.18 Greasewood Reference Area <br />The Greasewood Reference Area was established as a new area in 1999 and is located <br />approximately 1,500 feet northwest of the Cameo Refuse Disposal Area No. 1 along the east-facing <br />colluvial toe slope adjacent to the BLM Bookcliffs access road and the ephemeral drainage. Ground cover <br />in this area consisted of 63.8% live vegetation, 0.6% rock, 19.4% litter, and bare soil exposure of 16.2% <br />(Tables 2 and 22). Perennial cover across the unit averaged 20.2% with annual and biennial cover <br />averaging 43.6% (up from 10.6% and 28.1%, respectively in 2004). The dominant taxa were <br />cheatgrass, greasewood, galleta, and four-wing saltbush with 42.6%, 6.6%, 5.2%, and 2.6% average <br />cover, respectively. , <br />CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, INC.
