the next 30 years but the most cost efficient method at present is the <br />use of Coherex as described in Section 6.5. <br />Plots duplicating this plan of tailing revegetat.ion to open <br />forest will be established far in advance of mine closure to ascertain <br />the validity of the plan. <br />Gravel Pits and Storage (10, 11) <br />The railroad gravel pit (11) and the gravel storage area <br />near Ryans Pit (10) comprising a total of 29 acres will be retained <br />for future use until it becomes obvious there will be no more need for~,1'/ <br />aggregate. Because of high visibility, Ryans Pit itsel~(11 acres) /1~ <br />was regraded to 3:1 slopes in 1976 and is being revegetated. Ther~s <br />an intermittant pool of water in the pit which fluctuates seasonally <br />with the water table. <br />Contractors Camp and Storage (12) <br />The contractors camp and storage yard (12) may (with Forest <br />Service approval and input) be reclaimed to a roadside pic:iic area. <br />The warehouse storage yard would be. moved to a less visible and more <br />accessible site nearer the mill. Picnic tables, paths and parking <br />would be provided along with an explanatory sign or two de:scribing the <br />mining process. If the area is not reclaimed to a roadside: park, it <br />will be reclaimed to open forest. Because of the continued need of <br />the area for a contractors camp, the reclamation is not expected to be <br />complete until about 1987. <br />Borrow Area (13) <br />The borrow area (13) was necessary to obtain material for <br />construction of the Ute Creek Dam. <br />The area was revegetate:d to open <br />9-16 <br />
