will take place because the dismantlement will be accompli::hed by hand
with the aid of a helicopter.
Portal Area (3)
Seven of the 28 acres comprising the tunnel portal area (3)
were regraded in 1976 and are being revegetated. Some buildings and
material are enclosed in a fenced yard on the remaining 21 acres.
Most buildings and material occupying the 21 acres will be removed and
the area zevegetated by 1963 leaving approximately 2 acres of track,
portal face-up disturbance, rectifier, storage and dry buildings, for
reclamation at mine closure when the portal will be closed, the track
and buildings salvaged and the area regraded and revegetate:d to open
forest.

Surface Railroad (4)
Most of the 4.8 mile long surface railroad (4) to the mill
from the portal is cut and fill. The revegetatable cut and fill
slopes were hydromulched in 1972, have since been maintenaxice fertil-
ized, and presently have relatively good stands of vegetat:_on. The
large fill across the Williams Fork Valley from the portal was con-
structed with waste rock from tunnel construction. The fi::l was
covered with approximately 3 inches of topsoil salvaged from within
the tailing basin in 1974 and 1975 and hydromulched in the fall of
1975. These slopes are also presently vigorous.
Of the total 1D5 acres disturbed by the surface :-ailroad,
only the 36 acres occupied by the bed will require reclamation at mine
closure. The process of reclaiming these 36 acres will be similar to
9-12
