Please note also, the
number 15 is a key to a list of landowners developed by the
operator and; therefore, not applicable to any other maps. I was
unable to locate any information regarding the location of the
mineral rights your father owned. Reviewing the mineral ownership
map contained within the permit, it appears that the coal owned by
your father is not within or adjacent to the Red Canyon permit
boundary. However, the Division recommends you contact the Delta
County Assessors Office for more information.
My review indicates, at this time, your property has not been
undermined. The base of the E seam, which was mined by Grand Mesa
Coal Company, is located roughly 350 feet below the land surface in
the vicinity of your property. The workings of the mine stop
approximately 200 feet to the south of your property. The mine in
this area was developed from the east to the west. I have also
enclosed a portion of the underground workings map, with a rough
sketch of the boundaries of your property.
I hope this information has been helpful to you. If you require
more information or have a question regarding the above description
of the Red Canyon Mine, please do not hesitate to call. There is
a copy of the permit and the Division's proposed decision to renew
the permit available for review at the Delta County Clerk and
Recorder's Office. I have enclosed a brochure which describes our
Division and how the public can participate in the permitting
process of coal and mineral mines.
Sincerelv.
~~Christine J hnston
Reclamatio S ecialist
Enclosures
cc: David Berry, DMG
034.CTZ
