18 July 1984
Page 2
Sediment Pond:'U" and its structures will be discussed with the Magpie Div-
ersion section.
It is anticipated that topsoil replacement of the finished West pit could
occur in the spring of 1985.
Overburden Stockpile No. 1 (OS#1) ----------
,~ It is proposed to lower OB#1 to an elevation of 6200 ft., a decrease of some
40 ft. The top would be roughly leveled with scrapers and dozer, and its sides
~~~ brought back to more manageable slopes, especially to the north west and west.
~ This would entail the removal of approximately 100,000 cu. yds. to the northern
end of the West pit and/or the er:tirety of the East pit. A minor amount 3000
cu. yds. would be dozed into irregularities on the eastern and western slopes
of OB#1. '
Additional amounts would be removed in circular fashion by scrapers below the
6200 ft. level to acheive a maximum slope of 2:1.
Topsoil could be brought from Topsoil Stockpile # 2,(TS#2), as a back haul by
scrapers from the trips to the East pit. This possibility will be explored as
time and operations permit.
Overburden Stockpile No.2 (OS#2) ----------- .
Material from OS#2 will be used for backfilling both the West pit and East pits.
Topographic information felt to be accurate, indicates the northern nose of
OS #2 has some 45 ft. depth of waste. This waste gradually thins to the south '~~"
1' t' .
as the original topography rises. The northwestern part, amounting to some ~..
75,000 cu. yds., will be placed into the 41est pit via scrapers and dozer. `~~
The Rest of OS #2 will be backfilled into the East pit via scrapers in order
to prepare proper grades for scraper haul roads from OS #1.
East Pit ------------
Overburden and interburden from both OS #1 and OS #2 will be used to fill the
East pit. As mentioned above, a minor amount of OS #1 might be needed for the
northern portion of the West pit to ease operational problems in road building
and widening for high speed scraper traffic.
Two plans for the final reclamation of the East pit are hereby presented ,and
overall data given so the board can determine the proper plan selection.
