18 July 1984
Ms Sandra Emrich
Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation Division
Colorado Department of Natural Resources
Dear Sandra: RE: C-037-81
Herewith is a proposed reclamation plan requested by the MLRD board at the
June 28th. meeting.
This plan will follow in all major respects the approved plan submitted in
1981 by GEC Minerals, Inc. ,with the exception of certain timetables and
mobile equipment listings.
This proposal will follow in layout the suggestions in paragraph 3) of Mr.
Phillip Saletta's letter to Mr. Steve Layton dated 12 July 1984.
NOTE: Unless otherwise specified, all reclaimed slopes will be constructed
to a maximum slope of 2H:1V. Some slopes will of course be shallower.
WEST PIT ---------
To date, more than 25,000 cu. yds. have been dozed into the West pit from
the eastern wall and central ridge. Approximately 75,000 cu. yds. additional
will be placed in the West pit from, primarily, Overburden Stockpile 42, to
complete rough grading before topsoil replacen~ent.
During the latter part of July 1984, the D-8 will begin dozing a scraper
haul road system down the northwestern flank of the central ridge to the bot-
tom of the 'n'est pit. This road will enable the scrapers to establish a stair
step system of lifts abutting the west wall of the West pit and continuing
south to the southern end of the pit. These lifts will step downward to the
east in approximately 10 ft. lifts which are approximately 25 ft. wide. A
dozer will then grade the lifts to the eastward to make the western slope.
Top soil will be placed on the uppermost lifts to enable a rough grading by
the dozer to progress smoothly with the rest of the work.
A drainage area of approximately 10 acres will be affected by the West pit,
which will join the unnamed drainage (directly to the west of the West pit),
some 500 ft. upstream of the Magpie Diversion channel junction.
Scrapers could be utilized on the job as early as September 1984.
l~/
~~ /
1
