III. Cultural and Historic Resources - Rules 2.04.4 and 2.05.6(4)
Information in this section of the original Findings Document is still
accurate. There are no documented cultural or historical resources in the
permit area.
The operation is in compliance with the requirements of this section.
IV. Geology - Rules 2.04.5 and 2.04.6
There are no changes to this section.
The application •is in compliance with the requirements of this section.
V. Hydrologic Etalance - Rules 2.04.5, 2.04.7, 2.05.3(4), 2.05.6(3) and 4.05
A. Ground Water
Ground water hydrology information is presented on pages 34-36 and
JFSA 13-45 •in the permit application. Information in this section of the
original Findings Document remains accurate with modifications related to
mine water discharge. A discussion of potential ground water impacts can
be found in Section VIII of this document.
In order to monitor impacts of the mine on ground water, two stipulations
were made to approval of the original permit. Stipulation No. 1 required
the operator to submit quarterly monitoring reports for the Twin Pines
No. 2 and Caldirola Mine wells. The operator complied with this
stipulation by submitting the required reports until approval of TR-01 in
December, 15186. This revision changed the reporting requirement to
semi-annual reporting. Monitoring of pH, conductivity, temperature and
water level is performed monthly. Semiannual monitoring is done of the
following parameters: SAR, TD S, HCO3, Fe, Na, Hg, Mn, Cd, Mg, Cu, Pb,
B, Ca, A1, 'ie, SOq, NOg, and As. The operation is in compliance with
this stipulation, which is ongoing, as indicated on page 94 of the permit
application.,
Stipulation No. 2 required quarterly reports of inflows, discharges and
consumption of water at the mine. This stipulation was also complied
with until <rpproval of TR-O1 on December 1, 1986, which changed this
reporting rcaquirement to semi-annual reports. The operation is in
compliance with this stipulation, which is ongoing, as indicated on page
94 of the pE~rmit application.
A third stipulation (No. 3) required the operator to obtain storage and
well permits. prior to use and/or discharge of mine water. The mine
obtained a permit to discharge mine water. Since no beneficial use of
mine water has been made, no other permits have been required to date.
Compliance with this stipulation is ongoing, pending any change in status
of mine watf~r use. Therefore, Stipulation No. 3 (modified) remains in
effect:
-6-
