Description of the Operation and Reclamation Plan
The original Findings Document contains a summary of planned operations at the
Twin Pines No. 2 Mine. Development at the mine has generally followed the
plans outlined in the original Findings.
A shop/office building was constructed at the mine site, as approved in Minor
Revision 04 (September 9, 1988). Three concrete slabs were added at the coal
sales yard (MR-03, approved July 9, 1987) and modifications were made to the
scale house (MR-02, approved August 9, 1985).
Water is being pumped from the mine into the bench sediment pond from which it
is discharged into Lewis Gulch, upstream from the gulch fill. Mine water
discharge began in October, 1987.
The only other deviations from the original plan described in the 1983
Findings involve estimates of areas to be mined during subsequent years. A
total of 120,330 tons of coal have been mined since June, 1985. Coal is being
removed from the mine by conveyor belt and then being trucked to the sales
area for sale an~i/or processing. The mine plan on Drawing TP-2 in the permit
renewal application indicates a 15 year life expectancy for the permitted mine.
-4-
