Item 3 - Revegetation
This item includes the revegetation of all areas disturbed and/or compacted during site work. All
areas will be revegetated according to the Revegetation Specifications (20.0) in the General Bid
Specifications. Commercial fertilizer OR manure may be used for this project. Seed will be
supplied by the OWNER. The CONTRACTOR will supply the fertilizer, fertilizer application, seed
application, certified noxious weed free mulch, mulching, and mulch crimping. Revegetation work
will be initiated immediately upon completion of all excavation and backfilling work. Excavation and
other site work are estimated to disturb approximately 1 acre which will require revegetation.
Measurement and Payment
Payment for this item will be reflected in a lump sum bid under Item 3. This lump sum bid will cover
payment of all costs for fertilizing (including supplying fertilizerj, seeding, mulching (including
supplying mulch), and mulch crimping. These revegetation procedures will be performed on all
regraded, backfilled and other areas requiring revegetation. There will be no measurement for
payment. Payment shall be as this item is completed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER.
Payment for this item will be made only for that amount shown under Item 3 of the Bid Schedule.
Any or all incidental costs incurred by the CONTRACTOR shall be reflected in each Bid Item or shall
be paid at the Contractor's expense.
Item 4 - Adit backfill
Opening ID
Type of Feature
Present Dimension
Construction Dimension
Depth
Shape of Opening
Surficial Material
Depth to Bedrock
RECLAMATION
2
Adit
6'h x 8'w
8'h x 12'w
unknown
Square
Concrete, cinder block lining
unknown
The above feature will be backfilled according to the Backfilling Closure Specifications (2.0) in the
General Bid Specifications, 1996. Access improvements for an approximate 200-foot horizontal and
80 foot vertical distance will be made from the edge of the field above the feature. The concrete
housing structure and existing cinder block bulkhead will be demolished with the concrete debris
placed into the mine workings. Once the structure and cinder block seal have been removed and
placed into the mine workings, the feature will be recontoured to blend in with the adjacent slope.
Initial access improvements and any area to be impacted for borrowing fill will first have the surface
vegetation removed plus the top 24 inch of soils removed and stockpiled in a manner which can be
retrieved and replaced in sequence upon completion of slope recontouring. This may require the
cutting of shrubs or woody material prior to removal. After slope recontouring, stockpiled top soils
will be placed over the worked areas. Finally, stockpiled vegetation previously removed will be
redistributed over the recontoured backfill and access areas to act as mulch to prevent erosion. A
methanometer will be available for methane detection prior to initiating any site work. In the event
that methane levels are elevated, then precautionary measures will include either the venting of the
gases behind the bulkhead seal or systematic bulkhead seal removal to provide ventilation prior to
any demolition work which would produce sparks and or flames. If methane levels are elevated,
