-6-
L~
2. Alluvial Wells Along Ward Creek and Williams Creek
a. Tri-annual (February, May and September) depth-to water
measurements at alluvial completions A-1, A-3, A-7, A-8,
A-10 and A-12 would provide the minimum information
necessary to determine if water is being lost to the mine
over time.
b. Water quality sampling may be deleted from the program.
3. Refuse Pile Monitoring Wells
a. Bi-annual depth-to-water measurements (May and September)
on piezometers R-1, R-3, R-4 and R-6. The Division
realizes that Grand Mesa Coal anticipates no activity which
might affect these piezometers; however, continued
monitoring of the development of an unconfined aquifer in
the refuse disposal area is required.
b. Bi-annual field parameters (temperature, pH, and
conductivity of piezometers R-1, R-3, R-4, and R-6.
c. Elimination of full-suite ground water analysis is
acceptable unless field conductivity values exceed
10,000 umhos/cm @ 25°C or if field pH falls below 5.0. If
either of these two conditions are indicated, a full-suite
ground water analysis should be performed.
d. The refuse pile should be walked on a bi-annual basis and
all springs and seeps should be mapped at these times. A
potentiometric map of the average water surface should be
developed annually and submitted with the AHR.
4. Sediment Pond Wells
a. Reduction of monthly water levels to quarterly measurements
at piezometers P-1 and P-2 is acceptable.
b. The elimination of field parameters is acceptable.
5. Mine Inflows and Discharge Monitoring
a. Inflows (if mine is not sealed).
1. Continuation of annual flow measurements for flows
exceeding 0.5 gpm in June is acceptable.
2. Continuation of annual field measurements of flows
exceeding 0.5 gpm in June is acceptable.
3. Continuation of a monthly meter reading at UG-5 is
acceptable.
