IV. The Proposed Action
This mining plan action consists of a mining plan
modification for Federal lease COC-54608. Specifically, the
mining plan modification proposed by TCC consists of:
Coal removal from the Wadge seam in:
(1) Eastern Mining District. [Sections 21, 23, 26, 27
and 28; Township 5 North, Range 86 West of the 6th P.
M.] .
Longwall panels 2 Right through 6 Right
Gateroads 2 Right through 4 Right
Extension of the Southeast Mains
(2) Northern Mining District. [Sections 21 and 22;
Township 5 North, Range 86 West of the 6th P. M.]
Northeast Mains only
The life of the mining operations is expected to continue
for 5 years under Colorado Permit No. C-82-056 and this
proposed mining plan modification.

The average annual production rate and the maximum
production rate would not change.
The approved State permit area would not increase from its
present 22,240 acres. However, the approved affected area
would increase by 1,146 acres to a new total of 10,791
acres. Surface disturbance within the approved State permit
area will not increase beyond the approved 344 acres.
Approval of this mining plan modification will increase the
number of acres of Federal coal in the approved mining plan
area by 866 acres to a new total of 5,427 acres as shown on
the map included with this decision document.
Approval of this mining plan modification will authorize
mining of an additional 10.3 million tons of Federal coal
for a new total of 40.0 million tons.
No Federal surface lands will be included in the mining plan
area as a result of this action.
The postmining land use within the permit and mining plan
area will not change.
