<br />backfilling and regrading resuRed in a postmining topography which <br />approximates the premining configuration. <br />Revegetation success for the Pit 1 area was evaluated in 1989 by IMS Inc. (IMS) <br />and in 1990 by IME, with success evaluations corresponding to years 8 and 9 <br />of the reclamation liability period. The CMLRD also completed an independent <br />revegetation success survey covering the Pits 1 and 5 areas in 1989. These <br />evaluations indicate that adequate cover has been established in the Pit 1 area <br />to meet applicable regulatory requirements for vegetative reestablishment. <br />Documentation of revegetation success for the parameter of herbaceous cover <br />is presented in Appendix B, Vegetation Monitoring and Bond Release <br />Evaluation, to this bond release request. <br />Consistent with the specific requirements of Rule 3.03.1, Rockcastle has for Pit <br />1; <br />a) Successfully completed backfilling, regrading, and drainage control <br />in accordance with the approved reclamation plan (Phase I release) <br />b) Successfully reestablished vegetation in accordance with the <br />approved reclamation plan (Phase II release) <br />Given effective compliance with all applicable criteria, Rockrxstle respectfully <br />requests Phase I-II bond release for the Pit 1 area. <br />Pit 2 <br />Pit 2, which disturbed a total area of approximately 27.6 acres, was backfilled, <br />regraded, topsoiled and revegetated in 1979-1980.
