43 Potential Pollutants
Potential pollutants that could contaminate stormwater runoff from this site include, but are not
limited to sediment, diesel fuels, gasoline, motor coolants and lubricants.
4.4 Discharge Samplinng Data
There is no existing discharge sampling data describing the curtent stormwater discharges for this
site. Almost all stormwater that comes into contact with various aspects of the mining operation
is routed into the sediment ponds.
5.0 STOR1~1V1'ATER QUALITI' CONTROLS
5.1 SVJMP Administrator
The Vice President of Castle Concrete will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and
revisions to the SV1MP. All changes will be noted directly on the report or maps for
incorporation into the plan.
5.2 Risk Identification and Assessment
Loading of haul vehicles to remove the aggregates from the site, occurs near the stockpiles. Care
is taken to avoid damaging the vehicles and releasing any potential pollutants onto the site.
Equipment used for the extraction and hauling of the aggregate is stored on-site. Front-end
loaders and dozers are stored near the maintenance building. Haul trucks are stored there also.
Daily inspections of the equipment and parking areas occur before the vehicles are moved. Daily
maintenance occurs on-site, at the parking locations. Oil changes and overhaul maintenance are
conducted on-site, and inside the maintenance building. If any spills are noticed they will be
cleaned up promptly and the contaminated soils disposed of in a manner consistent with applicable
environmental laws. The source of the leak will be identified and measures taken to~revent any
further discharge.
1 Fuel tanks are located near the maintenance building, and are surrounded by an earthen berm of
sufficient size tb contain the contents of a full tank should a leak or rupture occur. Generally
there is no more than 1,000 gallons of combined used and new lubricating and hydraulic fluids at
1 any one time at the site.
This site has no areas of historic mine drainage or spoil springs that could contaminate stormwater
dischazges.
This operation does not use tailing ponds in the process of creating the aggregate.
1 Screening and crushing of the aggregate occurs daily with this operation. The crusher and screens
aze powered by electricity.
1 3
